Feb 5,
2008 IMPORTANT U.S. SENATE VOTE ON THE ECONOMIC STIMULUS
PACKAGE LATER THIS WEEK
CALL YOUR SENATORS AT
1-866-924-NAHB (6242)
Thank you for placing
calls into Congress over the past couple of weeks in an
effort to generate support for the inclusion of housing
stimulus measures in an economic stimulus package.
Legislation continues to
move swiftly through the U.S. Senate. Last night (Feb.
4), the Senate voted to move forward with thirty hours
of debate on the economic stimulus package. They are
scheduled to have a vote later in the week.
We are being heard.
On the Senate floor yesterday, Senate Majority Leader
Harry Reid (D-NV) mentioned the grassroots outreach he
has received from the housing industry on the economic
stimulus package. We need to keep up the pressure in
the days ahead to ensure that housing measures are
included in any final Senate economic stimulus bill.
CALL TO ACTION
Please take a moment to
call your U.S. Senators using the NAHB Legislative
Hotline, at
1-866-924-NAHB (6242) and get
connected, free-of-charge.
Tell them to support the
Senate Stimulus Package because it:
·
Increases the Government Sponsored
Enterprises (GSEs) and Federal Housing Authority (FHA)
loan limits
·
Increases the Mortgage Revenue Bond (MRB)
program
·
Expands the Net Operating Loss (NOL) tax
deduction
·
Extends the Home Energy Efficiency tax
credit
Special Note: Republicans senators are
especially important to this effort. If you live in a
state with a Republican senator, please make an extra
effort to communicate the message outlined in the Call
to Action above.
