Press Release:  late November/Early December 2007
For Immediate Distribution

LANCASTER: At the North Country Home Builder’s recent meeting, housing professionals learned the inside details of window installation and the adaptability of Insulated Concrete Forms.

Window professionals demonstrated methods of cutting the liner for the window insertion and the use of special seam tape to ensure a weather tight seal for window installations in harsh climates.  Bob Glassett and Sharon Sheehan from Pella Windows provided assistance with the evening’s program.

Kent Ruesswick of Green ICF Building Solutions provided an overview of the various Insulated Concrete Forms available from many manufacturers on the market today. The forms can be linked in many conformations, allowing standard or unusual shapes to be cast in the concrete foundation. The forms also allow much higher concrete structures – even 20 or more feet tall. Pleasant to handle, the insulated forms look like children’s blocks that can be pieced together quite handily by the contractor, then braced professionally for the concrete pour. The form then stays in place, providing insulation for an incredibly high R value and air-tight result.

The next meeting of the North Country Home Builders is on December 18th in Lancaster. The topic will be Energy Efficient Construction. For more information, visit www.NorthCountryHomeBuilders.org.
